There is absolutely no better time of day for engagement photos than at sunset! Especially up in the mountains here in the state of Washington. Macy and West brought me along for a summery, fun engagement session at Artist Point in the North Cascades. Since this session was in late August, the mountain weather was simply perfect. 

The Couple

Macy and West have such an interesting history as a couple, one that crosses international borders! Macy, from Washington, and West, from Canada, met at a continuing education class that Macy’s job was hosting. Macy’s boss invited West to lunch with them, and then West asked Macy out on a date! 

Through Covid, West and Macy were only able to meet up at Peace Arch Park, which sits directly on the Canadian/US border. With regular border closures, the two hung on to this way that they were able to spend time together, and planned a smaller, intimate wedding ceremony before celebrating with more family and friends at a later time! 

Macy said, “We truly believe that God’s hand has been leading our paths and guiding our steps the whole way!” Be still, my beating heart!!!

Engagement Photos at Sunset

Macy and West were just so fun and easy going!  It was so clear to me how in love they are and it made my job so easy. 

Plus, the weather and the location made everything that much more perfect. The sunsets at Artist Point are always stunning, and being here on such a beautiful day with the two of them was the best way to spend a summer evening. 

Artist Point is one of those places that is so worth a visit if you’re in the area, whether you’re looking to take some sunset engagement photos or not! Summer and fall are the best seasons to visit this area of the North Cascades. I helped plan this session here for Macy and West, so that we would hit that perfect timing where the snow from the previous year had finally melted but new snow hadn’t yet set in!

Macy and West’s wedding this past October was even more beautiful than their sunset engagement session — I was so happy and excited to see these two walk through the challenges Covid presented them and begin their married life together!
