I know what you might be thinking: barn weddings are soooo 2012. But let me tell you a little secret: barn weddings don’t have to look like they usually do on Pinterest: they can absolutely be elevated and modern, yet still keep that charming rustic touch! That’s why I freaking love the Kelley Farm, a beautiful barn wedding venue in Bonney Lake, WA. It’s everything that made barn weddings trendy, with plenty of those quaint country vibes, but blended together with a more contemporary, elegant feel that totally takes barn weddings to a whole new level. In this guide, I’ve got all the info you need to know about having your wedding at the Kelley Farm, from all the best features + highlights of the venue, to packages + pricing info, and more! Enjoy!
Located in Bonney Lake, WA, the Kelley Farm is by far one of the top barn wedding venues in the Seattle area. It’s super accessible from both Seattle and Tacoma, less than an hour away from both (unless you hit that Seattle traffic), so you have easy access to the best of the rustic, country-lovin’ and the bustling city worlds! It’s the ideal venue for couples who might want to spend some time in the city, or at least be able to drive to the city easily, while also experiencing the scenic beauty of the country that lies outside of Seattle. They describe their venue as “rustic-glam,” which I think paints a picture perfectly for couples: with luscious gardens, expansive views, a spacious barn, and elegant amenities, it’s seriously SUCH a versatile space that can be customized to fit whatever your dream day may look like!
Fun fact: the farmhouse itself was actually a wedding gift alllll the way back in 1907—so how cool that today, it’s still a place that holds such special events + helps create such beautiful memories?! The family who owns the farm has done a really fantastic job of maintaining this historic farmhouse and preserving all the charm that’s been around for 100+ years, while also giving it new life as the years go on. And the team that now works on the farm to help manage events is the absolute best; they’ve got multiple venue managers, hosts, and a coordinator who all do an incredible job of helping couples bring their dream days to life!
I’m sure you can already tell that the Kelley Farm is absolutely stunning through all of the photos so far, but there is SO much more to love about the Kelley Farm than what it looks like (which I’ll dive into in a minute). The farm is family-owned, and you can really tell that the entire team cares SO much about every couple who gets married on the property. I’ve had nothing but amazing experiences photographing weddings at the Kelley Farm + connecting with a few of the venue hosts, and I can’t say enough good things about them. It’s so incredibly valuable to pick a venue that has such a kind, dedicated, and talented team like this; it really makes all the difference when it comes to planning and ensuring your day turns out exactly how you want it to. You’ll be supported the whole time—you don’t need to do it on your own!
And I’ve mentioned this already, but I’m obsessed with the way that the Kelley Farm has blended the best parts of country, rustic-style venues with the best parts of modern, elegant venues! You get the charm of a barn wedding and the elevated beauty of a more modern venue, allll rolled into one. And you can really customize the venue to fit whatever your vision is: maybe you want to have a romantic ceremony inside of the romantic, rustic ambiance of the barn, and then head outside for a bit more of an elevated cocktail hour on the patio as the sun sets. The natural beauty of the area around the venue adds SO much to the experience of getting married at the Kelley Farm, as you get to enjoy the comfort of modern amenities along with the tranquil, breathtaking scenery that surrounds you.
The Kelley Farm is also a great venue option for spring, fall, and winter weddings, when it’s very likely you might have rain on your wedding day! Because the main part of the venue is indoors (the barn), you automatically have a backup plan in case any outdoor parts of your wedding day need to be moved inside. This is useful in the summer, too, because it is the PNW after all; you never really know whether you’ll get sunshine and blue skies or rain and clouds, even if it’s the middle of August! So no need to worry about your day being ruined by the unpredictable weather—you’ll have the gorgeous barn + a tent available to use if needed.
Additionally, because the Kelley Farm has multiple venues to choose from, it’s really versatile and easy to customize to fit whatever your unique wedding looks like. Whether you’re having a huge party with 300 guests and you wanna use up allll the space in the barn + on the patio, or you’re having an intimate ceremony that can fit in the gorgeous garden next to the barn, the Kelley Farm is truly such an adaptable space that any + every couple can make their own!
Speaking of versatile venues, let me tell you about the options you have for your ceremony and reception at the Kelley Farm!
In addition to these three ceremony + reception sites, you’ll also have access to the Cottage; a cute and cozy little home for one half of your wedding party to get ready in, as well as the Quarters; a rustic spot in the trees for the other half.
The best time of year for a wedding at the Kelley Farm really depends on your priorities, your budget, and what type of day you’re envisioning.
For the most comfortable weather, I’d recommend having your wedding in the summer or early fall, as that’s when temperatures in the area are the warmest + best for outdoor celebrations! It would be sooo lovely to have an outdoor reception and/or cocktail hour on the patio, sipping on cold drinks as you watch the sun go down over the vast farmland. Then, once it cools down a bit, you can head inside to dance the night away!
Budget-wise, your costs would be lowest if you get married at the Kelley Farm during the off-season and on a weekday (e.g. a Thursday wedding in November). Instead of packages starting at $5,500 like they would for a peak season weekend, they’d start at $2,500—so you’d be saving a good chunk of money and could put that part of your budget toward something else (or save it). Keep in mind that the weather obviously won’t be ideal in the winter for outdoor weddings, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still sneak outside during your reception for some gorgeous portraits before the sun sets + take advantage of the incredible scenery all around you 🙂
The cost to get married at the Kelley Farm depends on what time of year you get married, as well as the day of the week! Here’s a quick glance at the Kelley Farm wedding pricing as of February 2024:
