I know I typically create blogs about all my favorite elopement spots + wedding venues in the Seattle area, but today we’re heading up north juuust a tad to Bellingham to talk about one of the most GORGEOUS venues in the state: Lairmont Manor! I’m fully obsessed with Lairmont Manor and have freaking loved every wedding I’ve photographed there. If you’re looking for a PNW venue with a historic, Italianate style, stunning architecture, and all the whimsical European garden party vibes, then a Lairmont Manor wedding might be just right for you 😉 Ready to learn everything there is to know about this iconic Bellingham wedding venue?!

Lairmont Manor is a venue that has a TON of history, so I wanted to dive into that just a little bit before we really get into the wedding-related details. The manor itself is located in Bellingham, Washington, just up the hill from the quaint little town of Fairhaven, and about 1.5-2 hours north of Seattle depending on traffic. It’s a fascinating place that has been around since it was the Larrabee family’s estate back in the very early 1900’s, and has since been passed on through multiple families + businesses that have made it into what it is today! Makes sense why the manor is such an architectural gem, right? It’s been so well-maintained over the years and has become the most incredible venue to host events and gatherings of all kinds! If you’re a bit of a history buff, you can learn a lot more about the history behind the manor here 🙂
There are SO many reasons that Lairmont Manor is such a fantastic Bellingham wedding venue, and not just because it’s obviously gorgeous—the manor team has really done an amazing job of creating an all-inclusive venue that ensures couples a smooth, seamless wedding day.
One thing I love right off the bat about Lairmont Manor is just how secluded it is: it’s honestly a hidden gem in the Bellingham area, and you probably wouldn’t know about it just by driving around unless you paid suuuper careful attention to a few small signs! Fairhaven is such a charming area in itself, full of adorable little local shops + restaurants and surrounded by the beautiful greenery that Bellingham has to offer. Lairmont Manor makes SUCH good use of the stunning natural beauty, with a spacious lawn out in front, lush foliage all around the estate, and whimsical garden spaces. 10/10 recommend if you want a wedding that feels like a romantic, elegant garden party soirée in Italy! 😍
Now let’s talk about the aesthetics of this venue for a moment, because it deserves ALL the praise 👏 Who wouldn’t want to tie the knot at a crazy romantic, Renaissance-style manor on an estate that boasts lush greenery, manicured gardens, and breathtaking architecture?!
Another element that makes Lairmont Manor such a fabulous venue for couples is just how versatile the spaces are. Bellingham is notorious for getting a lotttt of rain throughout the year, but the manor team has made it so that the venue is available year-round, rain or shine! In the spring or summer, you could have a large outdoor celebration under the tent with 200+ people, or an intimate ceremony by the fountain garden. Then in the fall or winter, you can head inside to the ballroom, the formal dining room, and the billiards room; all of which feature the same stunning architecture and design as the outdoor spaces. Oh, and did I mention the vaulted ceilings? Or the viewing balcony? Or the literal grand piano inside of the manor that you can use for portraits?!
Whether you have a small 15-person elopement or a grand 200-person celebration, Lairmont Manor will be able to accommodate you and help you plan an amazing wedding!
Speaking of all the incredible, versatile venue spaces Lairmont Manor has to offer, let’s go through the full list so you know what all your options are! As I mentioned before, Lairmont Manor has both indoor and outdoor spaces, and it’s totally up to you which spaces you use/don’t use + what the flow of your day looks like. Wanna start with a ceremony in the garden, move to one of the lawns for cocktail hour, and end the night inside in the ballroom? Amazing! Or how about having your reception out on the lawn instead, under the night sky in the summertime? Sounds great to me!
A huge benefit of getting married at Lairmont Manor is that it’s open for weddings all year-round, no matter the weather. However, depending on the specific vibe + atmosphere you’re envisioning for your wedding at the estate, some seasons may be better than others!
If you want to make use of the jaw-dropping outdoor spaces that Lairmont Manor has to offer, spring and fall will be the best times for you to hold your wedding, between May-October. This is when the weather is suitable (most of the time) for outdoor celebrations, and the venue will provide you with a large outdoor marquee that can fit up to 200 people—which is great for when it’s super sunny out and you need some shade, or if it’s raining! Keep in mind that although May-October are the “best” months to get married at Lairmont Manor, you can never really predict what the weather will be like here in the PNW. So it’s best to keep an open mind, and be prepared to adapt + be flexible if the weather isn’t ideal! We can always head out into the rain for some romantic portraits even if your ceremony ends up being held inside—trust me, they’ll be SO dreamy with all the vibrant greenery around the property 🙂
If you’re looking to get married at a time of year when venue + vendor costs may be cheaper, and you’re okay not having the majority of your wedding outdoors, then you can get married at Lairmont Manor in the fall or winter! The indoor space has room for up to 125 people, and with 25 different rooms throughout the manor, you won’t have to worry about not having enough space to explore. There are sooo many stunning indoor spots that we can use for portraits, and then we can throw on our jackets for some outdoor portraits, too! Honestly, there is something so magical about getting married in this cozy space in the wintertime, when all you want to do is warm up indoors and spend time with the people you love.
