It’s always so much fun to show my couples around Washington! I’ve lived here my whole life, and for couples like Teagan and Mitch, who are originally from out of state, it’s so nice to get to photograph their love (of course) and to experience the wonders of the Pacific Northwest with them. Teagan and Mitch were picturing an outdoorsy, adventurous session that fit their personalities. A mountain engagement shoot at Mt. Rainier was the perfect choice! 

It was a warm summer day up on the mountain. The golden hour sunset on this day was absolutely unbeatable!! The mosquitos were killer, but we all stuck it out and it was so worth it. I recommended Mt. Rainier for Teagan and Mitch’s engagement, and I’m so glad they got to experience it with me on such a gorgeous day. 

The Couple

Teagan and Mitch are originally from Michigan, and moved here to Washington in late 2020. They’ve since moved back to the Michigan area to be close with their families! I’m so happy to have taken them to Rainier while they were here — I am here a lot to photograph elopements, but I think it’s a must-see if you’re in the Seattle area. To make their session even more special, Teagan and Mitch had Mitch’s daughter join them! She was so precious and so excited during the session, and I loved shaking things up for this engagement in the mountains with the three of them. 

Some Tips for a Mountain Engagement

1. Learn from our mishaps during this session! Bring your bug spray in the summertime at Rainier. 
2. Check sunset times with your photographer, which can vary by location! Plus, the mountains will also block the light depending on the angle. Nothing beats a sunset engagement in the mountains — you’re going to want those golden hour photos!
3. Especially in Rainier, stick to the trails! It’s so tempting to go off into the wildflower fields, but it’s important to preserve outdoor spaces like this one.
